SHAWN HUCKINS

1984

Born 28 April, Laconia, New Hampshire.

1993

Inherits oil painting kit. Creates first painting.

2002

Enrolls into Keene State College and while taking studio and art history courses, Huckins anticipates on receiving degree in Film Studies. Later, changes to Architectural Studies before finally declaring a Studio Arts major in 2005.

2004

After traveling to various parts of the world, including Australia, Fiji, Hungary, and Guatemala, Huckins decides to devote his career to art making.

2006

Visits Museum of Modern Art in New York City and is significantly impressed by the works of Pop icons such as Ruscha, Warhol, Lichtenstein, and Rosenquist.

Receives a Fellowship Grant and earns a BA in Studio Art.

Moves to Middletown, Connecticut. Takes job as an architectural model fabricator and painter for firm in New Haven, Connecticut. Resigns two years later.

2008

After a first failed attempt, visits Hood Museum of Art, Hanover, New Hampshire to view his favorite and most influential work, Edward Ruscha's Standard Station, Amarillo, Texas (1963).

Takes position as an artist assistant in Litchfield, Connecticut.

2009

Receives signed book Leave Any Information At The Signal from artist, Edward Ruscha.

2010

First major solo exhibition Can't Miss Lime; showing The Paint Chip Series held at Real Art Ways, Hartford, Connecticut.

Receives an Artist Fellowship Grant through the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism.



Currently lives and works in his Middletown, Connecticut studio.
